Privacy
gridref.org.uk doesn’t use accounts, doesn’t set cookies and doesn’t store anything you type.
Your location
When you press Where am I?, your browser asks your permission and then gives the page your position. The grid reference is worked out on your device. To show the nearest postcode, the page sends the coordinates to postcodes.io. The same happens when you choose a point on the map or enter coordinates. Nothing is sent to gridref.org.uk itself.
Postcode and place searches
If you search for a postcode or place name, the search text is sent to postcodes.io to find its position. Grid references, latitude/longitude and eastings/northings are converted entirely in your browser.
Maps
Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which see your IP address and which map area you are viewing, as with any website. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn’t use cookies or track you across sites.
